Vivamor Parfums Bitter Sweet Review

Vivamor Parfums Bitter Sweet

Just launched, Vivamor Parfums Bitter Sweet is a fragrance built around the feeling of a getaway that never quite ends, one that opens on a wave of citrus and passionfruit before settling into something darker and more contemplative.

The opening is the reason to fall for this one. Passionfruit and grapefruit arrive together, acidic and piercing, like the first sip of ice water steeped with tropical fruit, the kind of drink you always mean to make at home and never do, so it becomes the thing you crave the moment you land somewhere warm. It’s bright, a little sharp, entirely alive.

There’s something honest about naming a fragrance Bitter Sweet and letting it live up to both halves of that word. So much of what we chase in travel is exactly this, the euphoria of arrival paired with the quiet ache of knowing it won’t last, that the fruity cocktails and the ocean air are borrowed, not kept. Bitter Sweet seems to aim at that, a scent built around escape shouldn’t just smell like the good part. It should carry a little of the wistfulness too, and that’s precisely where the composition heads next.

The heart turns toward chocolate fudge, and this is where Bitter Sweet asks something of you. On paper, that base promises warmth, something enveloping, almost edible. On my skin, the amberwood underneath kept that warmth at arm’s length, drying the chocolate out rather than letting it fully melt into its deliciousness. Amberwood is a note I’ve found myself circling back to across several recent launches, and one that continues to read differently on me than I suspect it’s meant to. That’s the nature of amberwood, and of fragrance more broadly, it’s never just the formula, it’s the formula meeting your skin, your climate, the day you’re having.

So I’ll say this plainly: the opening of Vivamor Parfums Bitter Sweet is a triumph, and the base is where my own chemistry and the composition seem to disagree. I’d love to know if it unfolds differently for you, on different skin, in a different climate, this one may well find the warmth it’s reaching for. That’s always been the appeal of testing for yourself rather than taking anyone’s word for it, mine included.

Notes: Passionfruit, Grapefruit Juice, Chocolate & Caramel Fudge, Chocolate Butter, Amberwood.
