Navitus Parfums Eclat Pistache review

Creatively directed by Abigaille Cadet alongside Techniflor Parfums perfumer Bérengère Bourgarel, Eclat Pistachio, the new Navitus Parfums release is so good I kept reapplying it just to chase the green, radiant opening of Sicilian bergamot and Guatemalan cardamom, a top accord I’m adoring. The opening is all green light. Sicilian bergamot comes in cool and faintly bitter, more rind than juice, and the Guatemalan cardamom lifts right behind it, that resinous, almost camphored snap that keeps the citrus from going soft. The Madagascan black and pink pepper blend is the part you feel before you smell it: a dry crackle, a little heat around the edges that stops the top from tipping into sweetness too early. Bright without turning sour, spiced without running hot.

Then the heart arrives and the temperature drops. The pistachio here isn’t the dense, oily paste so many houses reach for, it’s the nut closer to how it actually tastes, a little green, a little salted, set in something cold and creamy. Vanilla milk gives it that whole-milk roundness, and the toffee runs through with a burnt-sugar warmth that never sets into candy. This is where an iced latte comes to mind, thick cream, crushed pistachio, the shadow of a light roast that isn’t technically there but absolutely is. The base is what gives it the longevity. Brazilian tonka brings almond, cut hay and a soft coumarin sweetness; amberwood adds a modern, almost mineral lift; and Sri Lankan sandalwood closes it, lactic, milky, warm, the woodiest part of the whole thing without ever reading as wood.

If I had to plate it, Eclat Pistache is a Sicilian pistachio semifreddo. Bronte pistachio folded into cold cream, a ribbon of toffee pulled through, the whole bowl dusted with cardamom and finished with a twist of bergamot zest. The tonka and sandalwood are the base it rests on, somewhere between brown-butter shortbread and a spoonful of warm milk. It’s a gourmand, but a cold one, and that temperature is the whole trick: sweet enough to want, light enough that you scrape the bowl and immediately reach for more. Which, going by how many times I reapplied, is more or less what happened.
